The Marshalltown Area United Way (MAUW) and Heart of Iowa Big Brothers Big Sisters (HOIBBBS) have to go back to our previous titles to recognize the start of our partnership. MAUW was established in 1929 under the moniker of Greater Marshalltown Community Chest to raise funds in a united appeal for the operating expenses of community-accepted charitable, health welfare, and character-building agencies. Now focused on Youth Opportunity, Healthy Community, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency, MAUW has been leading the fight for a better tomorrow for all.
HOIBBBS was started in 1972 and has received funding from MAUW since our first application in 1973. MAUW continues to be a crucial part of keeping our program running and have helped fund approximately 20% of our programing needs in the recent years. We are about to carry out our mission because of agencies like United Way who focus on bettering the entire community. Join us specifically in Leading the Way to opportunities for young people to succeed as we work to ensure that every child has the tools they need to graduate high school.
